Andrew Edge
Chair
Andrew and his wife, Julie, are long-time residents of Georgina, first settling here in 2005. They have two children, Abrielle and Caleb and a beautiful Labrador Retriever named Sirius Black.
Andrew’s work experience began as a pool supervisor with the Town of Markham, where he helped implement the Adapted Aquatics program that is still run there today. Andrew holds a teaching degree from York University, beginning his career at Keswick High School. He is currently an educator at Newmarket High School, working as the Department Head of the Personalized Alternative Education program. He is also a small business owner of AE Handcrafted Woodworking. Andrew has supported youth athletics in York Region for many years by volunteering as a coach in football, rugby, and soccer. He is passionate about engaging youth and helping them grown and develop into the leaders of the future.
Christine deHaas
Vice Chair
Christine has been a resident of the Town of Georgina for the past 28 years. She and her husband have raised their family in Keswick and she has been an active member of the Our Lady of the Lake Parish community. She has been employed by the York Catholic District School Board for 30+ years and is honoured to have served as the Principal of St. Bernadette CES in Sutton. She is committed to working with children and youth in the Georgina community as the leaders of tomorrow.
Cynthia Cordova
Past Chair
Cynthia was the Board Chair of the Trustees of York Region District School Board (2017-2022). Cynthia is an Operational Training Specialist with the Salvation Army as well as President/Instructor Training for First Aid/CPR and AED with Vital Saving Skills. Cynthia is a powerful force in the workplace and uses her positive attitude and tireless energy to encourage others to work hard and succeed. Cynthia is inspired daily by her husband and their two daughters. In her free time, Cynthia volunteers with the Optimist Club, Keswick.
Dushi Quittner
Treasurer
Dushi is a seasoned leader with over 28 years of diversified financial experience in retail and small business banking, insurance and wealth management. As the former Branch Manager of Scotia Bank Sutton, Dushi has been actively involved in the Georgina community since 2019 supporting many non-profits like YSpace Georgina a small business venture hub, Georgina Community Food Pantry and Good Food Collective community lunch at the Link, while serving as Board member and Treasurer for both Jericho Youth Services and Hospice Georgina.
Dushi graduated from University of Toronto, Erindale Campus with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Industrial Relations. She and her husband David moved to Newmarket in 1998 and they have two children who are both attending university in Waterloo. As a family they enjoy hiking and travelling the world to explore different cultures. Also, she uses her knowledge and experience in the corporate world to coach and mentor youth and small business owners.
Terri-Leigh Rennie
Secretary
Terri-Leigh is a dedicated professional in the field of youth development and empowerment. Currently serving as the !Belong and !Thrive Group Programing Coordinator at Big Brothers Big Sisters Toronto, she brings a wealth of experience and passion to her role. With nearly a decade of prior experience at Jericho Youth Services, Terri-Leigh has been involved in various programs ranging from childcare to camps. Her educational background includes a Diploma in Social Work from Seneca and a Bachelor’s in Sociology from Trent University. Having grown up in Georgina and having been a participant in Jericho Programs during her youth, Terri-Leigh is deeply connected to the community she serves. Her commitment to making a positive impact on youth is evident in her work, and she strives to ensure that every young person has the opportunity to be heard and empowered.
Steve Jacobson
Director
Steve has been a long-time resident of Jackson’s Point pre 2011 as seasonal resident. In 2011 he and his wife Cathy moved into the lakefront property that his grandfather bought in 1949, coincidentally the year he was born. Steve graduated from York University Glendon Campus in 1973 and began his career with Oshawa Foods/Sobeys immediately after until he retired in 2006. Steve started his volunteer work as a Beaver, Cub, and Scout Leader. Went on to be a fundraiser and support for Yonge Street Mission and Evergreen Youth Drop in Centre. Since moving up to Georgina, he has been involved on several committees: Jackson’s Point BIA (Chair) 12 years, Link Steering Committee 3 years, Vice-chair of Jericho Youth Services 8 years, Mayor’s Motorcycle Ride Committee 5 years.
Rose Sheppard
Director
Rose has been a member of Jericho for over 40 years in various capacities She is a widow and has three adult children. Rose comes from a large family and has many grand children and great grand children. She is very much a community oriented person active in church groups, visits seniors and local nursing homes and has worked at St. Bernadette CES for a number of years as a lunch time supervisor and an office support worker.
